FAQs

01

Why should I donate to Writing in Color?

Writing in Color exists because our community believes writers of color deserve space, support, and opportunity to grow their craft. Your donation helps keep our courses free and accessible so financial barriers never prevent someone from learning, writing, and sharing their voice.

02

What does my donation support?

Your donation supports Writing in Color’s free writing courses, guests for webinars, and the instructors  who make them possible. Contributions help fund instructor stipends, course materials, curriculum development, technology costs, operating costs for the nonprofit, and mentorship that guides writers as they grow and publish their work.

03

Why are free courses important?

Writing education is often expensive and difficult to access for many emerging writers. By offering our courses for free, Writing in Color ensures writers of color can build craft, confidence, and community in a supportive learning space without financial barriers standing in the way.

04

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Writing in Color operates through a fiscal sponsorship with a registered nonprofit partner. Donations are processed through that organization and may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and you will receive a receipt for your records after completing your contribution.
